Summit County, Colorado is best known for the ski resorts.
Don’t get me wrong, I love to hit the slopes! However, when I recently had three days to spend in the area I didn’t want to spend the whole time snowboarding. There are so many other interesting things to do that I didn’t want to miss!
So don’t turn down a ski trip just because you don’t want to ski the whole time. Here are three other things you can do in Summit County!
1. Loveland Pass
I highly recommend taking the drive up to Loveland Pass! It was just over 20 minutes from where we stayed in Dillon, Colorado but it’s not far from other nearby towns like Breckenridge.
There’s a view around every corner and it was so fun to climb higher and higher into the sky!
Definitely check weather conditions and make sure your vehicle is all set before you go. It was really cold and snowy up there even in April!
2. Dillon Reservoir
I’m fully convinced I found the best little hike in the area. The Old Dillon Reservoir Trail is an easy 1.7 miles with incredible views! The trail was well marked, easy to follow, and so much fun.
While I was hoping to see more birds, there were plenty of robins, crows, and adorable mountain chickadees!
I loved this hike so much I went back the next day to do it again.
3. Downtown Breckenridge
There is so much to do downtown!
Breckenridge is incredibly charming. We had a great meal at Breckenridge Tap House to catch up with my friends that were skiing all day and then took a walk around to check out the shops!
Stop at Oh Fudge on main street to grab a cup of salted caramel hot chocolate to sip on while you walk around – you won’t regret it!
